The Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL) leads the US Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) commitment to protecting civil rights in natural and man-made disasters. In this session, CRCL's Rebekah Tosado and Brian Parsons will introduce CRCL's disaster related responsibilities drawing upon examples from CRCL's experiences during the 2017 and prior disasters. They will describe CRCL's collaboration with FEMA (a Component of DHS) and federal civil rights partners to provide proactive guidance, address emerging issues, and engage members of the disability community.
