What You Missed Last Month: Archive of ADA Trainings from November
What you missed in November: ADA Webinars and other Online Events
Last month, there
were several training opportunities on the ADA and related topics. Here are
some highlights. Each archive includes the presenter(s) materials in multiple
formats as well as a link to the recording of the webinar session.
Webinar: Leased Facilities and the Architectural Barriers Act
This is a free webinar offered through a collaboration of the U.S. Access Board and the ADA National Network.
From the Great Lakes ADA Center: Federal agencies and the US Postal Service (USPS) must ensure that facilities they lease are accessible as required by the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA). Standards issued under the ABA, which apply to facilities funded by the federal government or USPS, provide minimum requirements for facilities or buildings newly leased by federal agencies or the USPS. These provisions address accessible routes, parking, toilet and bathing facilities, sales and service counters, joint use areas, fire alarms, and other elements and spaces. Presenters will review these requirements and explain how they apply to leased facilities. A representative from the General Services Administration, which leases facilities on behalf of many federal agencies, will join the Access Board in conducting this session. Webinar: Leave under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
From Great Lakes ADA Center: Employee leave under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) continues to be confusing for both employees and employers. Join us for this session as our speaker explains the ADA requirements when it comes to leave, both as an employee benefit and as a reasonable accommodation, and how these requirements fit with the requirement to grant medical leave to employees under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Following the presentation participants will have an opportunity to ask questions of the speaker.
Inappropriate Questions under the ADA: Legal and Practical Considerations
From Great Lakes ADA Center: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, state and local government programs, public accommodations, commercial facilities, transportation, and telecommunications. This webinar will touch on a variety of improper questions as they pertain to ADA: Title I (Employment), Title II (Public Entities), and Title III (Public Accommodations).
