July 17th: ADA Update: 22 Years Later in 11 Indiana communities
Attend the annual ADA Update Audio Conference (available in 11 Indiana locations : The session, "ADA Update: 22 Years Later" will feature representatives from the U.S. Department of Justice and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission providing an update on their litigation, technical assistance and enforcement efforts over the past year, and what issues they plan to address in the coming year.
July 18th: ADA Workshop in Muncie
Community members in Muncie and surrounding areas are invited to attend a Workshop day on July 18th. The Great Lakes ADA Center will provide training on Title II (state and local government) and Title III (business and other service organizations) in two workshops. Please contact Yvonne Thompson at the Muncie Human Rights Commission for more information about this training.
July 19th: ADA and Livable Communities Workshop in Union City
Community members in Union City and surrounding areas are invited to attend a Workshop day on July 19th. The event will be hosted by Union City and LifeStream Services, Inc. The Great Lakes ADA Center will provide training on the ADA and the role it plays (and can play) in creating livable communities. Please contact Monte Poling, Union City Manager for more information about this training.
July 23rd - July 27th - City of Bloomington's Accessible Survey Week
The Council for Community Accessibility (CCA) is coordinating a "week of service" during the ADA Anniversary week. They are seeking community volunteers to attend a training on doing access surveys (no experience necessary), and then throughout the week, volunteers, working in pairs, will visit businesses and other local organizations to conduct informal surveys of their business locations. The businesses will receive the results and resources on how to improve their physical accessibility. On Friday, the volunteers will gather for a cookout to celebrate their work. If you are interested in participating, contact Alexa Lopez. This sounds like a great way to "celebrate" the ADA!

The United Spinal Association is hosting this free webinar on state of accessible taxis nationwide. Find out more about the issues around accessible taxi service nationwide (and learn about what is going on in New York City and the implications nationwide.
July 26th, 11:00 am ET: Indianapolis Mayor's Advisory Council on Disability Access and Inclusion Awards
The City of Indianapolis is hosting their annual Disability Access and Inclusion Awards at the Artsgarden in downtown Indianapolis. The event will recognize the achievements of individuals and businesses making strides towards accessibility in Indianapolis. No RSVP is necessary, just show up!
August 2nd - ADA-Indiana hosting training on Creating Accessible PDF Documents for State and Local Government
ADA-Indiana is hosting a training event for State and Local Government officials. The Portable Document Format (PDF) is a common method of communication for government entities. This training will feature Terrill Thompson, a frequent trainer and speaker on web and PDF accessibility.
